SUMMARY:The SPCO’s Northside Series @ the Capri
DESCRIPTION:Exquisite music. Extraordinary musicians. The intimate setting of the historic Capri. Bravo!\n\n\n\n\nJoin us for The Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra’s Northside Series @ the Capri! \n\nCorelli’s Christmas Concerto\n7pm Friday\, December 1 \nApproximate length 1:29 \nFans of Baroque music need look no further — join us for a concert that showcases SPCO members both as soloists and as stellar chamber musicians! Following Arcangelo Corelli’s titular Concerto Grosso\, a full-bodied work that is both mournful and energetic\, SPCO trumpeter Lynn Erickson will play a dazzling Baroque concerto. Works by Georg Philipp Telemann and Antonio Vivaldi provide unique instrumentations that highlight the musical diversity of the SPCO\, while Philip Glass’ Echorus for Two Violins and Strings brings a minimalist sensibility — an ethereal heartbeat through the light pulse of SPCO musicians in unison. \n\n\nExpress Concert: Coleman’s Afro-Cuban Concerto\n7pm Friday\, May 3 \nApproximate length 1:09 \nJoin us for an Express Concert inspired by music rooted in and born from African rhythm and dance. No matter the continent or time period\, the works on this program speak to the idea of interconnection\, with music stemming from the same sounds and traditions. Afro-Cuban Concerto\, a work by the SPCO’s newest Sandbox Composer-in-Residence Valerie Coleman\, opens the concert and sets the stage for a program featuring four works that span across centuries and continents. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nOur Community Partnership with The SPCO\nThe Saint Paul Chamber Orchestra firmly believes that building authentic\, long-term relationships is vital to the work of serving the community and connecting more people to the transformational music they perform. \nThus\, for thirteen years\, this world-renowned orchestra has partnered with the Capri to bring extraordinary chamber music concerts and smart\, engaging programs designed especially for children and families to North Minneapolis. This treasured partnership offers both organizations the opportunity to engage new audiences in innovative ways\, and to inspire the next generation to appreciate the beauty of classical music.

SUMMARY:Force of Blue presents: "Force of Blue"
DESCRIPTION:In 2020 the Minneapolis North High School football team battled to win a championship amid school closures due to the COVID pandemic\, the death of George Floyd\, and the resulting riots that set a community on edge and their neighborhood on fire. Even though their coaches\, a group of dedicated police officers\, were considered to be persona non grata in the city of Minneapolis\, the Polar players\, a team of predominantly African American student-athletes\, from a neighborhood that historically has had an antagonistic relationship with the police\, were able to look past the badges and refused to let the issues plaguing society stand in their way on their quest for a title.

From entrepreneurial titans Cumberland Posey and Gus Greenlee\, whose intense rivalry fueled the rise of two of the best baseball teams ever to play the game\, to Effa Manley\, the activist owner of the Newark Eagles and the only woman ever admitted to the National Baseball Hall of Fame\, The League explores Black baseball as an economic and social pillar of Black communities and a stage for some of the greatest athletes to ever play the game\, while also examining the unintended consequences of integration. \n\n \n \n \n \n \n \n Craig Laurence Rice\n \n \n \n \n \n Kevin D.
