SUMMARY:Continuum Center presents: “True North: Science\, Streets\, and Skating Rinks of Optimism”
DESCRIPTION:In the 2013-14 basketball season the Minneapolis North High Polars went from worst to first in the city\, and became state champions in 2016.\nFrom classrooms and living rooms to basketball courts and ice rinks\, “True North” is a story of possibility over probability\, of quantum leaps\, and transforming reality\, from the inside out.\nDoors open at 5:30 | Program at 6:30 | Q & A at 7:45 | Reception following. \n\nMore: The film “True North” follows the journey of the Minneapolis North High Polars basketball team starting in late November 2013\, when the team was in last place in the city. At the same time Minneapolis Public Schools had tried to shut North High down because of their 35% graduation rate\, and because there were only 165 students in the entire school. \nThen\, the team’s new head coach\, Larry McKenzie\, invited Jane Barrash onboard as the vision\, focus and mindset development coach\, with a program to help the players access the proverbial other 90% of brain/mind capacity for sports\, academics\, and life. \nCovering 8 years\, “True North” follows the players as they become state champions\, and then after high school\, also highlighting a couple of Polars in particular (the younger brother a senior and Polar captain by the end of the film) in a family that’s a pillar of North Minneapolis and North High\, and a skating show featuring Polars on the ice with an Edina synchronized skating team. \n“True North” is all about optimism\, interconnectedness\, and creating a new universe of possibility!  Join us!

SUMMARY:Euphoria Short Works Festival
DESCRIPTION:Join gender queer artist Lauren Edson in an exploration of gender euphoria and the gender spectrum. \nWhat exactly is gender euphoria? Simply put\, gender euphoria is the opposite of gender dysphoria. It is the psychological state of bliss and comfort that happens when one’s gender expression aligns with their gender identity. At this moment in the media\, there is so much focus on the negative and the bad\, especially when it comes to gender related topics. Those are most certainly important things to talk about\, but Edson wanted to create a time with their art\, if only for a moment\, where we focus on the positive and the joy surrounding feeling comfortable in your own skin. \nThe show features several incredible Minnesota artists. Hadar Isra will be performing a spoken word piece\, Identity Crisis (C Michael Menge and Chip Gehring) will be doing comedy\, Candy Kuehn will be displaying wearable artwork\, Eden Johnson will be reading poetry\, Annika Hansen will be doing a dance performance\, DIVAJ (Jaye Sinkfield) will be performing an original song\, and Katie Weston will be sharing a short film. \nTeam Euphoria is so excited to showcase all of this hard work and can’t wait to see you at the theater! \nREGISTER TO ATTEND NOW! \nFor more updates on the festival\, you can find Team Euphoria on all social media as @euphoriashortworks or on our website. \nTo learn more about Art to Change the World\, you can find them on social media @artotchangetheworld or check out their website. \n \n \nPlease note: Masks are also required at all indoor events at the Capri. Non-cloth masks\, such as N95\, KN95\, KF94 and surgical masks\, are recommended.
