SUMMARY:First Thursday Films: Lakota Nation vs. United States
DESCRIPTION:This film tells the story of the Lakota Indians’ fight to reclaim control of the Black Hills. It is a provocative\, visually stunning testament to a land and a people who have survived removal\, exploitation and genocide – and whose best days are yet to come. \n\n\nCome for the movie. Stay for the conversation. \nJesse Short Bull\, who directed the film with Laura Tomaselli\, leads the conversation after the movie\, along with MSP Film Programmer\, Craig Laurence Rice. \nShort Bull is also known for writing and producing Istinma\, a film set in Pine Ridge\, South Dakota and shot in the Lakota language. \n\n\n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n\n \nBe @ the movies! Noteworthy films with good conversation that follows each screening on the first Thursday of every month. The series is presented by MSP Film\, the Capri\, and the Minnesota Historical Society
