DESCRIPTION:Rebound\, Inc.\, a community-based nonprofit working with systems-involved youth\, is proud to announce the premiere screening of our Sankofa documentary film “Journey to Ghana.” This compelling film chronicles Rebound’s pilot Sankofa journey\, a cultural heritage expedition that took youth on a transformative trip to Ghana\, West Africa.  \n“Journey to Ghana” captures the essence of our 2023 Sankofa Fellowship\, offering a poignant retelling of our exploration through Washington\, D.C.\, Portugal\, and the land of Ghana through a lens of growth and self-discovery.  \nThrough captivating visuals and heartfelt narratives\, the documentary showcases the profound impact of this cultural immersion experience.  \nCommunity members and partners are invited to join us for the premier along with a panel discussion featuring the youth participants to be held after the film.  \nThose in attendance will be invited to leverage their support as Rebound and Connections to Independence seek to take twice as many systems-involved Black youth on the journey in 2025.  \n \nAbout Rebound\, Inc.:  \nRebound is a grassroots\, community-based\, non-profit located in North Minneapolis\, Minnesota. It was created to regain possession of the life trajectory of Black youth. Steele \nWhether you’ve been part of the Capri Glee! choir for years\, or are just checking it out for the first time\, read on. \nThe spring session of Capri Glee! starts at 7pm Tuesday\, March 12. \nSign up now and invite friends and neighbors\, co-workers\, family members\, or anyone (age 18+) you know who might like the heartwarming\, uplifting\, healing effect of singing and moving with J.D. and Fred Steele and this gleeful group. \nWe rehearse Tuesdays\, and our season ends in a performance on April 16.  All are welcome. No experience necessary. “Repetition is our friend.” Songs are learned by rote\, and all participants are inspired to create a joyful sound together. DESCRIPTION:Join us for the March 2024 edition of the Minnesota Writers Series as we welcome Zeke Caligiuri\, Chris Fausto\, and Fong Lee\, three editors of the anthology “American Precariat: Parables of Exclusion\,” published by Coffee House Press. Through readings and discussions\, the editors will share the genesis of the anthology\, and the importance of bringing to light the stories of those society deems invisible and chooses to exclude. The editors will be joined by Mike Alberti\, executive director of the Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop\, who will moderate the discussion. \nZeke\, Chris\, and Fong will be available for book signing and further conversation after the event. “American Precariat: Parables of Exclusion” will be available for purchase from Subtext Books at the event. \nThis event is presented in partnership with the Minnesota Prison Writing Workshop (MPWW)\, which connects incarcerated individuals to arts and educational programming and fosters a creative community of writers both within and outside of prisons and correctional facilities \nWebpage\nFacebook event \nQuestions?
