Come for the movie. Stay for the conversation.

Michael Starrbury, of Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, was the screenwriter on this film, and he’ll join us as our conversation leader after the movie. He’s also known for his work on the television series Legends of Chamberlain Heights, When They See Us, and Colin in Black & White.

Here’s a fun read about Starrbury’s career trajectory in the film business: Meet Michael Starrbury, the Screenwriter Working with Ava DuVernay and Colin Kaepernick. How a Brooklyn Park dad went from self-taught screenwriter with nary a Hollywood leg to stand on to the go-to writer for Ava DuVernay and Colin Kaepernick’s new BFF, by Drew Wood, Minneapolis St Paul Magazine.
