First Thursday Films blends the classic vibe of our 1927 renovated theater with a curated lineup built for everyone—from true film snobs and lovers of classic cinema to everyday folks who just love great Black film. Every first Thursday, we bring generations and cultures together to experience brilliant movies the way they were meant to be seen, followed by vibrant, post-credit discussions led by knowledgeable moderators. It is more than just a movie night on West Broadway; it is a welcoming space for sharp cinematic debate, rich culture, and real community dialogue.
Programmed in partnership with the MSP Film Society with support from the Minnesota Historical Society, First Thursday Films creates a space for conversation and illumination.
