Daphne

Daphne is a clay craftsperson whose work is rooted in collaboration. Her practice moves between solitude and partnership—working with chefs, designers, scientists, and cultural institutions to create pieces that respond to place and people.

At its core, Daphne’s work draws on found forms, salvaged materials, and the conditions of each environment. Whether made independently or collaboratively, her pieces offer a sense of permanence—simple, tactile forms that hold space and meaning.

In addition, Daphne has spent 20+ years building strategic partnerships and leading initiatives across arts, cultural, educational, and public sectors. She has worked with HBO (The Black List, Latino List, Women’s List), The New School University, The John F. Kennedy Center, and the Hip-Hop Theater Festival, cultivating collaborations with Scholastic, Target, NPR, PBS, UNCF, The Walker Art Center, Minnesota Marine Art Museum, and American Craft Council.

Suzanne Tacheny Kubach

The more I paint—then experience how others respond to my work—the more I recognize I’m contributing to a conversation about the deepest experiences that connect us all. A collective yearnings for comfort, connection, love, and joy; experiences of sadness and loss; and of the draw toward beauty that often leaves me at loss for words—these themes surface as stories in my paintings.

My designs emerge from my soul and intuition—my sense of wonder about the natural world. My most recent abstract works explore energy and movement in the style of abstract lyricism and gestural landscape. Some bring an atmospheric quality while others convey the same dynamic flow found in wood grains, veins and transparent layers in natural stone, or patterns left in a creek bed when the water ebbs.

I practice in three styles and one teaches the next. I began with abstract acrylics, then was drawn toward gestural landscapes. Working with encaustics influenced my abstract work, introducing more movement. In either medium, color, texture, and movement are all elements in my designs.  All my piece contain dozens of layers with rich textures and understory. In my abstracts, I begin with a sense of play, often with no initial intent beyond exploring a color or palette. Because encaustic paints are cured with heat, I partner with that heat source in a way that feels spiritual. I know a piece nears completion when I sense a connection to some metaphor, memory, or atmosphere. At that point, I stand back with more discernment to edit while examining principles of design.I am also a writer, so an added lyrical element comes through the titles of my work, which suggest the short stories about each piece that I share on Social Media.  Please follow if you appreciate a good yarn.

Ken Rumbaugh

Ken Rumbaugh is a longtime sports artist, and a new Minnesotan who has long loved Minnesota. He and his wife Emily moved to Minnesota from Portland, OR in 2024… A very happy homecoming for Emily (originally from Grand Rapids, MN) after 30 years on the west coast.

Sports and art have always been two of Ken’s great passions. He has spent the last few decades bringing them together to help tell stories too often untold. These passions have opened doors to collaborate with professional athletes, franchises, leagues, and sports museums across the sports world.

His goal is simple: to honor the people who have inspired so many, and use art as a way to spark conversation, connection, and community. He is especially excited for the opportunity to do so in his new community of North Minneapolis in support of the incredible work happening at Plymouth Christian Youth Center (PCYC) and the iconic Capri Theater.

In practice, I view my Art in the form of Visual Jazz, it is free expression, it is collaboration and improvisational co-creation within the boundaries of structure and order, it is spiritual and contemplative connecting us to familiar memories, it is dedication to honoring the history of our traditions as it celebrates the Ancestors while hopefully inspiring the future. It creates the atmosphere that gives permission for moments to arrive. At its core, my work is about Healing.
