Featuring The Bill Simenson Orchestra & The Explosion Big Band
Sunday, April 12
Cost: FREE
Jazz lovers, listen up! In celebration of Jazz Appreciation Month, the Capri is thrilled to present a powerhouse Big Band Double Concert. Join us for an afternoon of world-class jazz featuring two of the Twin Cities’ most premier ensembles.
The Bill Simenson Orchestra is a 17-piece jazz orchestra based in Minneapolis. As one of the few composer-led big bands performing regularly in the region, they boast a library of well over 100 original pieces. Expect a dynamic performance as they continuously add fresh, contemporary repertoire to their signature sound. Reserve your tickets HERE.
Led by “chief detonators” Doug Haining (sax) and Scott Agster (trombone), the Explosion Big Band draws from the area’s finest musicians. True to their name, the ensemble is ready to detonate with a high-energy set featuring the classic sounds of Count Basie and Duke Ellington, alongside modern arrangements from Thad Jones, Clare Fischer, and Pat Metheny. Reserve your tickets HERE.
Cost: These concerts are 100% free.
Seating: You must reserve a ticket online to be sure you have a seat. If you do not have a ticket, you might not be allowed in if the theater is full.
