Cantus presents: “A New World”

Czech composers Antonín Dvořák and Leoš Janáček maintained regular correspondence even after Dvořák moved to America. Two generations later, American composer Margaret Bonds and poet Langston Hughes established a strong friendship and artistic collaboration.
Cantus celebrates these relationships and exchanges of ideas in “A New World,” which highlights rarely heard works by Dvořák and Janáček alongside “Fields of Wonder,” Bonds’ recently rediscovered low-voice setting of Hughes’ poetry.
