About Northside Forward
Northside Forward is a community-grown revitalization effort rooted in the brilliance, stories, and everyday power of North Minneapolis. It began as a conversation—between elders and youth, artists and entrepreneurs, dreamers and doers—brought together by the African American Leadership Forum to imagine a future built by us, for us.
What emerged is more than a plan—it’s a promise. A commitment to invest in the people, places, and possibilities that have always made the Northside more than a neighborhood. It’s where movements are born, where culture is created, where futures are shaped. And now, it’s where intentional, community-led development is taking hold—with a focus on Black prosperity, creative economy, housing that honors legacy, and public spaces that reflect who we are.
Northside Forward isn’t about starting from scratch. It’s about building on a foundation already rich with talent, vision, and care. It’s about making sure the growth coming to Minneapolis doesn’t pass the Northside by—but is led by its people, guided by its values, and shaped by its history.
