Senator Champion’s Office presents a special Black History Month film showing at the historic Capri Theater:
Black History Month is a time to reflect, learn, and uplift the stories, contributions, and resilience of Black people past and present. It is an opportunity to come together as a community, honor our shared history, and ensure these stories continue to be told for future generations.
To mark this important month, we are hosting a free community movie night featuring the film Sarah’s Oil, a powerful true story inspired by the life of Sarah Rector, a young African American girl from Oklahoma who became one of America’s first Black female millionaires at just 11 years old. Her story reminds us of the brilliance, perseverance, and impact of Black excellence, even in the face of systemic barriers.
Doors open at 6:30pm
Complimentary snacks include hot dogs, popcorn, and chips
*Please arrive early. We cannot accommodate additional guests once our maximum capacity is reached.
